“Banged Up, But All Smiles”- US Wrestling Legend Jordan Burroughs Shows Off Nasty Injury Ahead of 2021 World Championships

Jordan Burroughs, the American wrestling legend recently shared a picture of himself with a nasty injury after his Qualifier for the World Championship in October 2021. The freestyle wrestler has won numerous accolades, including an Olympic gold for the USA.

Unfortunately, the star could not qualify for the Summer Games in Tokyo. Losing to Kyle Dake, this was the first time since the 2012 Olympics that Jordan could not represent his nation at the Olympics since his debut.

Opening up after the loss of the Olympic trials he said, “I just took some time off. I think that after every competition you want to take some time to reflect, but particularly after one of that magnitude. So just took some time off, spent some time with my family, just kind of got away from it all.”

Jordan Burroughs at the World Championship qualifier

However, not willing to give up in future, he made it through the qualifiers for the World Championship in October 2021. With an incredible feat over Titan Mercury, the American emerged victoriously with a score of 4-3. Even though he competed in the 79-kilogram category, it was quite impressive how he sailed through. As a matter of fact, Jordan has competed in this particular category after 13 years. Moreover, this is will be his 10th career US World or Olympic Team qualification.

Right after the match, Burroughs shared a selfie of his wherein it’s evident that the wrestler had a tough match against his opponent. Showing off his injury with a lot of pride he said, “10. I’m truly only a reflection of all of the phenomenal people in my life. Age doesn’t determine toughness. I still choose to operate with faith, discipline, and effort. Everyday. Banged up, but all smiles. Next stop Norway!”
