Lauren Goodger attempts DIY blonde highlights but breaks ‘a little bit of her hair’ in the process
Lauren Goodger has made the most of lockdown by attempting DIY blonde highlights – although she did reveal she broke ‘a little bit of her hair’ in the process.
Whoops.
The Towie star is usually known for her natural mousy brown hair, which has been getting lighter in recent months.
Lauren told fans that she had previously trained to become a hairdresser after finishing school, although she admits was not the most skilled at the job.
She took to her Instagram Stories to reveal her new look, but did warn her followers not to ‘try it at home’.
Filming herself lying in bed, Lauren explained: ‘Lots of people ask how I can go from dark to blonde, blonde to dark, and it’s because my natural hair is mousy, it always fades and comes through.
‘But I have done a bit of a DIY job. Don’t try it at home! I have broke a little bit of my hair.
‘I put on a toner on it, a bit of bleach and foils. I actually trained to be a hairdresser when I left school, not that I’d continue in that trade as I’m not that good and up-to-date.’
As Lauren showed off her new hairstyle, she revealed it had been a while since she last coloured her hair properly, ‘so it was just washing out and getting lighter and lighter’.
She added: ‘It’s a bit of a mixture of colours at the minute. But hey ho!’
Either way, we reckon it looks great.
The 34-year-old is currently pregnant with her first child to boyfriend Charles Drury, and recently hit back at vile trolls who accused her of having a ‘fake baby bump’.
She told The Sun: ‘People have even accused me of having a fake baby bump. It’s totally crazy. It can be frustrating and annoying. But at the end of the day we are happy, we are having a baby, keep your opinions to yourselves and f**k off.’
However, Lauren did point out that she had also received many positive messages of support from followers.
The mum-to-be added: ‘But we are talking about a minority. I’ve probably had a handful of bad messages out of thousands of lovely ones.
‘I’m constantly explaining myself when I shouldn’t have to. I’ve never been horrible to anyone, I’ve never hurt anyone, I’m not a bad person. I’m only human and I do have a lot coming at me.’
Lauren had previously announced she and Charles, 23, were expecting in January – only three months after the pair had confirmed their relationship.
Speaking to new! Magazine, she admitted it ‘happened very soon’, although it also was not much of a surprise.
‘This is where my life starts,’ she told the publication. ‘We were quite sexually active and I’m not on anything [contraceptives] and it happened very soon.’
