Kourtney Kardashian ‘trying really hard’ to support sister Kim through Kanye West divorce
Kourtney Kardashian has been a pillar of support for sister Kim, following news of her divorce from Kanye West.
After months of speculation, it was confirmed on Friday that Kim, 40, has filed for divorce from Kanye, 43, after six years of marriage.
It was reported that the pair decided to call time on their relationship at the beginning of the year, with Kim and Kanye now moving forward with their divorce proceedings.
According to sources, Kim was at Kourtney’s house when the paperwork was filed, making her divorce from rapper Kanye official, with her older sister Kourtney, 41, making sure to be there for her sibling.
‘Kourtney has been trying really hard to be there for Kim this week. Kim was over at Kourtney’s on Wednesday, as the preparations [for Friday’s divorce filing] were being finalised,’ an insider told Us Weekly.
Kourtney and Kim seem to be much closer recently, following their famous catfight that aired on Keeping Up With The Kardashians last year.
Tensions boiled over between Kim and Kourtney, following Kourtney’s decision to take a step back from filming for the family’s reality series.
The pair ended up in a physical brawl and had to be separated by their younger sister Khloe, 36.
Lately, Kim has been seen spending plenty of time with Kourtney and recently joked on Instagram that the pair have a ‘love/hate’ relationship.
Alongside photos of the girls on the beach, she teased: ‘It’s a thin line between love and hate ♥️😂 JK JK.’
Kourtney – who is now dating Travis Barker – will no doubt have some words of wisdom from Kim, when it comes to splitting from the father of her children and navigating co-parenting.
While they were never married, Kourtney and ex Scott Disick split for good in 2015 after nine years together and now co-parent their three children; daughter Penelope, eight, and sons Mason, 11, and Reign, six.
Kim and Kanye share four children together; daughters North, seven, and Chicago, three, and sons Saint, five, and Psalm, one.
TMZ reports that divorce proceedings between Kim and Kanye are ‘amicable’ and Kim is asking for joint legal and physical custody of their four kids.
Sources claim that Kanye is ‘fine’ with the arrangement and the pair are ‘committed’ to co-parenting together.
A rep for Kim confirmed the divorce to ABC News.
She and Kanye have faced intense speculation with regards to their marriage, following his presidential run which saw him give an erratic speech and break down on stage, where he alleged Kim had considered aborting their eldest child North.
It led to Kim addressing husband Kanye’s mental wellbeing, following his campaign launch.
It’s reported Kim has known her marriage has been over ‘for a while’, with sources telling E! News recently: ‘It’s got to the point where [Kim and Kanye] haven’t spent time together as a married couple in months.
‘They’ve seen each other for the sake of the kids but have been living separately. Kim knows the marriage is over. She’s known for a while.’
Kanye set up camp in Wyoming throughout his presidential run, while Kim stayed in LA. Neither have publicly commented on their divorce.
