“I’ll Beat the Sh*t Out of Kamaru Usman”- Nick Diaz Says Fighting Robbie Lawler at UFC 266 Makes No Sense

Nick Diaz is set to return to the UFC Octagon this weekend as he takes on Robbie Lawler in a rematch that has been 17 years in the making. Diaz will make his first Octagon appearance in over 6 years. He appeared for an interview with ESPN’s Brett Okamoto recently. However, Diaz believes he should be fighting the UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman, not Lawler.

The Stockton native hasn’t fought in quite a while now. In fact, his last win in a professional fight was back in 2011. So, one can assume that the UFC wants him to have tune-up fights before throwing him against Usman. However, both the Diaz brothers roll in their own way and it’s not surprising for the fans to hear Diaz ask for ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ upon his return.

“I think I’ll beat the sh*t out of Usman. I have a better shot of beating Usman than I do Lawler, because I already beat Lawler. This doesn’t make sense for me to go in there and fight Robbie Lawler again… I should be fighting Kamaru Usman and that’s it,” said Diaz in his recent interview.

While it may come as a surprise for few, those who have followed Diaz’s career for a while would know that he is always willing to take on the very best fighters only to prove that he is the best in the world. And also, he had already stopped Robbie Lawler at UFC 47.

It’s hard for the fans to know what kind of shape Diaz is in and how he will perform when the Octagon door closes he will know. Long absences have never turned out to be good for any fighter. But, Diaz always stays in shape and sharpens his skills.

He might just be able to take everybody by surprise and prove that he hasn’t lost the edge as a competitor and put on a show. So, fans will be anticipated to see which version of Diaz actually shows up against Robbie Lawler this weekend at UFC 266.
