Piers Morgan was rendered almost speechless after being branded a ‘petty, fragile man baby’ by a Good Morning Britain guest, who took him to task over his Meghan Markle and Prince Harry criticism.
The TV presenter ranted against the royal couple following a controversial week, which saw them officially step down as working members of the royal family, announce an Oprah Winfrey interview and share the news that Meghan is pregnant with their second child.
As he returned to GMB on Monday after a break, Piers also couldn’t help but point out that the couple’s much-talked about week coincided with Harry’s grandfather, Prince Philip, being taken to hospital after falling ill.
Piers and Susanna Reid were joined by Dr Shola Mos-Shogbamimu, a staunch defender of Harry and Meghan who was more than willing to go up against the presenter.
‘Whether you like the pair of them or not is irrelevant actually, my further question to you would be this: Even you Shola, in your blind adulation of these two not cringe slightly -,’ Piers said as Susanna interrupted to call him out for his description of the guest.
‘All’s fair in love and war,’ Piers hit back before continuing: ‘Did you not in your blind adulation shudder when you heard that this privacy-minded couple had decided to spill their guts on Oprah for 90 minutes of primetime American telly for gazillions, but also that they chose to film it on the very day that the Duke of Edinburgh was taken into hospital?’
Dr Shola then rolled up her sleeves and pointedly called out the presenter, who struggled to get a word in, and said: ‘First of all, let’s address your blind adulation.
‘There is no blind adulation because I might as well refer to you, Piers, as being a petty, petulant, fragile man baby who can’t get his act together because Meghan rejected you.’
She was referring to Piers’ former friendship with the ex-Suits actress right before she began dating Harry. Piers has always maintained that Meghan ditched him as her relationship with Harry blossomed.
During the debate, Piers insisted: ‘I was one of their biggest cheerleaders up until the wedding. I only turned after the way she treated her father…
‘They wanted to have their royal cake and eat it.’
Piers then jokingly accused Dr Shola, who is a regular guest, of ‘spewing abuse’ at him.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
