Almost 400 BP, Shell, Esso and Texaco petrol stations have a £30 fuel limit – the full list of locations

DRIVERS will find a limit in place at hundreds of petrol stations across the country when filling up at the pumps.

EG Group, which runs 367 fuel stops under the BP, Esso and Texaco brand has imposed a limit of £30 per fill up to ensure customers “have a fair chance to refuel”.

Motorists have been urged to refuel as normal and not to panic buy after some petrol stations were forced to close.

A lack of lorry drivers has led to issues getting tankers to forecourts, but there is enough to go around.

Despite the reassurances, queues have been spotted at petrol stations across the country creating long tailbacks in some places.

It comes as soldiers could be brought in to deliver fuel as more than half of stations run out of fuel and  fights break out on forecourts.

The government also tore up competition rules yesterday so that oil firms can more easily target areas most in need of fuel across the country.

EG Group said the purchase limit on buying petrol will ensure they can “carry on running smoothly”.

Emergency service vehicles and HGVs will be exempt from the limit “due to their vital role at this time”.

An EG Group spokesperson said: “Due to the current unprecedented customer demand for fuel and associated supply challenges we have taken the decision to introduce a limit of £30 per customer on all of our grades of fuel.”

“This is a company decision to ensure all our customers have a fair chance to refuel and to enable our sites to carry on running smoothly.

“We kindly ask everyone visiting our sites to treat our colleagues, supply chain partners and customers with respect during these very challenging times.”

Where are petrol stations limiting fuel?

EG Group runs petrol stations under well-known brand names: BP, Esso, Shell and Texaco.

All the petrol stations with these names run by EG Group now have a £30 fuel limit in place.

But there will be other garages with the same branding that are not imposing the limit because they are run by different companies.

For example Esso has more than 1,000 petrol stations across the country, and there are around 200 run by EG Group which have a limit in place.
