LeBron James Reportedly Ready To “Sacrifice” To Accommodate Russell Westbrook At Lakers

Despite adding so many superstars to the roster, who have proved their worth consistently, the Lakers have still received plenty of skepticism about their potential. However, this is a discussion that they just can’t escape while leading up to the 2021-22 season, and even during it. Of course, adding Russell Westbrook gives them the third star that they needed in addition to LeBron James and Anthony Davis, off paper, it doesn’t look promising to some. But it seems like they already worked on how they can make Bron and Westbrook fit.

“The Talk” happened on how LeBron James and Russell Westbrook will fit together

The reason a third guard was added to their roster was to unload some of the playmaking pressure off of LeBron. Although there is no doubt that Russell Westbrook can surely do that, Bron still won’t be very willing to give up the ball too often. Thus, questions about how they will be able to play together have been raised, and rightly so.

So, this is where the purple and gold took complete advantage of the offseason. In this short span of preparation and before striking the deal, the were both part of meetings in which they had to come to a consensus to adjust to each others’ games. According to the Athletic, someone who was part of these meetings said, “Sacrifice”.

“Just sacrifice. Sacrificing on both ends. They all have to sacrifice. It don’t matter who you are. They’ve got to sacrifice. They know that. They talked about it. I think just out of respect for one another, ‘Hey man, this is the only way this is going to work — if we can do it.’ And so they had that understanding.”

The Lakers trying to leave no room for mistakes

Of course, until the season begins, and they get to face the other star-studded teams, their partnership will remain an enigma. But they deserve credit for trying to get ahead of the situation. Westbrook and James are already working out, practicing together.

LeBron posted a picture of the two of them working a sweat on the court. In fact, he went as far as mocking those who don’t believe in them with a caption, “I agree I don’t think this will work.”

The Lakers’ disappointing exit from last season, and all this criticism, is motivation to prove their haters wrong. Can the Los Angeles Lakers bring home another NBA championship?
