Meet the Man Who Gave Birth to the Greatest WWE Tag Team: The New Day
Big E won the WWE Championship from Bobby Lashley, the WWE Universe is loving this new side of their champion. However, it was a lifetime struggle for Big E to reach where he is today.
Long before he was a main-eventer, WWE booked him in the mid-card or sometimes in the lower mid-card segments/matches. Eventually, things took a wild turn when Big E, Kofi Kingston, and Xavier Woods formed a new faction – The New Day.
Big E took to his Instagram handle earlier to post a picture with his friend, Michael Notarile, and mentioned how he pushed him to form a new faction and get a fresh start in 2014.
“I’ve been blessed enough to have so many incredible opportunities because @michaelnotarile helped open doors for us,” he wrote.

The three gifted individuals had an interesting singles run. But by the time 2014 hit, they were all lost in the mix of the talented roster of WWE.

Since the November 3 episode of Monday Night Raw, WWE began airing vignettes for Big E, Kingston, and Woods, with the stable called The New Day, displaying a heroic black gospel gimmick.
Little did the WWE Universe know, this faction would become one of the most successful ones in all of pro-wrestling.
The New Day holds several records – including the longest tag team championship reign in WWE history at 483 days’, surpassing Demolition’s 28-year-old record of 478 days with WWE’s original World Tag Team Championship.
The faction has been a fan-favorite, and they didn’t stop delivering stellar performances even after they were split when Big E was drafted to SmackDown in 2019.
Right now, it looks like WWE is pushing Xavier Woods in the ongoing King of the Ring Tournament.
