‘We’re Pretty Good’: Despite No Kyrie Irving, James Harden Feels Him and Kevin Durant Are Good Enough for Nets to Win It All

Big changes can happen overnight. Similarly, the Brooklyn Nets had to make a decision that could potentially change their entire outlook. They took a decision on the situation with Kyrie Irving, keeping him off practices and games. This will stand until he abides by the leagues’ protocols. However, they have two elite stars in Kevin Durant and James Harden still.

While a ‘Big 3’ is always great, a great duo can take the organization to the big stage as well. And a duo of two of the best scorers of the modern era is rare to come across. For Brooklyn, they have Durant and the ‘Beard’ in their roster to take the lead. There is no doubt that the loss of KAI could hurt, but when it comes to talent, they still have plenty to work with.

Recently, Harden spoke with the media after their practice session. He said that the Nets have two great leaders in himself and KD.

James Harden thinks he and Kevin Durant are good enough?

In an interaction with the media, Harden spoke about leaders on the Nets team. While he did mention that Kyrie is a leader on the roster, it seems he is already thinking ahead. Harden followed it up by saying that he and KD are still there as leaders, and they are quite good at it.

James said: “Yeah, we still have two pretty good leaders on the team. Obviously, Kai is our leader, as well, but we still have obviously myself and Kevin to lead, which we’re pretty good at.”

Harden definitely isn’t wrong on his part. While he isn’t overlooking Kyrie’s presence, he makes a good point. Both Kevin and Harden have been leaders before. For KD it came in his time on the Thunder, while Harden took charge of Houston. Hence, the Nets have two more than capable leaders on their side. Without Kyrie, they lose out on experience and majorly, scoring.

However, they have a young star brewing up who Harden thinks can make it big as well. Summer League MVP, Cam Thomas has been shining for the Nets in the preseason. He has come up with some big time performances and he could have a bigger role if KAI doesn’t return with the Nets this season.
