Zendaya, Sacha Baron Cohen and Michaela Coel are some of the stars who have landed a spot on this year’s bright and bold Hollywood issue of Vanity Fair.

Charlize Theron, Michael B Jordan, Spike Lee, Maya Rudolph and Awkwafina also appear on the cover, which highlights actors whose work has shone over the last year.

In a move seemingly done to counteract 2020, all this year’s featured celebrities are dressed in multicoloured outfits and appear in different fantasy worlds.

Each star is asked how they have handled the pandemic as creative people in the film and television industry.

The Euphoria star poses on a windswept beach in a stunning, bright pink dress and effortlessly stops a huge boulder rolling towards her with one hand.

She joked that she spent her time at home trying to ‘sharpen my video game playing skills’.

Michaela, who made the cover on the back of her hugely successful drama I May Destroy You, appears floating on a giant book in the middle of the sea.

The star looks elegant dressed in a cute, pink and white dress with large decorative sleeves, and we are loving the striking white eyebrows.

As the stars were unable to get together for a photo this year, they all appear in a fun video of each of them in their respective fantasy worlds, including the Borat actor dancing around a hotel room with a vacuum cleaner.

From Costa Rica, artists Maurizio Cattelan and Pierpaolo Ferrari directed ten photo shoots spanning across four continents, using cutting-edge technology which allowed on-set personnel to be kept to a minimum.

Sacha, 49, starred in Borat sequel which was released on Amazon Prime last year, which earned his co-star Maria Bakalova a Golden Globe nomination.

The Ali G actor said releasing the sequel in October 2020, before Donald Trump took on Joe Biden in the November presidential election, was a strategic move.

He explained: ‘Probably the most successful element of it was that it discredited Rudy Giuliani on the day that he was trying to torpedo Biden’s campaign by delivering this hard drive that supposedly contained material on it that would have been negative for Biden.

‘While he was on his way to doing that, the Borat movie came out, and Giuliani, rather than being on the offensive, was on the defensive. Giuliani was spearheading the campaign to delegitimise the election results, and he was not seen as a credible source. Some of that was his own doing, holding press conferences outside of the wrong Four Seasons.

‘[But] I think the image of him on the bed with his hands down his trousers is not one you want from your top legal expert if you’re trying to undermine the largest election in history.’

Borat 2 reportedly drew in ‘tens of millions’ of viewers when it launched on the streaming service, according to an Amazon Prime spokesperson.

The Vanity Fair Hollywood issue is out on February 26.
