This fight was originally set for June 5, but it later got shifted to June 19. Unfortunately, for boxing fans, as the unified lightweight king tested positive for Covid-19, this bout was rescheduled for August 14. After that, October 4 and October 16 were floated as potential dates.

Following multiple cancelations, Triller washed its hands off this fight. As a result, Matchroom Boxing bagged the rights to host this bout. Now, after an unfortunate incident regarding Ryan Garcia, a date has opened up for ‘Take Over’ vs ‘Fearless’.

Initially, when this fight went to purse bids, Triller won the rights for a whopping $6,018,000. On the other hand, Matchroom was the second-highest bidder, with an amount of $3,506,000. Now that Matchroom Boxing has the rights to this fight, they’ll look to stage it in the biggest possible manner.

Teofimo Lopez vs George Kambosos Jr. – Will this fight come out as expected?

Lopez and Kambosos Jr. have been dealing with fight cancelations and postponements for almost half a year. Given their time away from boxing, they will have developed a substantial amount of ring rust as well.

In retrospect, the delays may have only served them as they will have had ample time to fine-tune their strategies for this fight.
