Mikey Garcia’s Losses: Who Has Defeated Him?

Multi-weight world champion Mikey Garcia has been near-flawless in over 15 years of his professional boxing career. The 5’6” orthodox, relying on his long list of wins, is now on the track to bag another world title in the welterweight division. It’s been alarming for several other top-level boxers at 147 lbs. And many of them shall craft their game plan against Garcia from the sole pro defeat of the California native.

In a resume of 40 wins with 30 KOs, Mikey Garcia has only lost once. The loss came against an absolute great of today’s era, which delayed his plans of becoming a welterweight world champion. It also ended his unbeaten run, which was shocking for the entire world. Following his win over Robert Easter Jr. for the lightweight world titles in 2018, Mikey Garcia shifted to 147 lbs in March 2019.

The decision, however, cost him his unbeaten tag, as he came across ‘Truth’ Errol Spence Jr. The clash between two undefeated stars saw Errol Spence Jr. claim the last laugh. However, Garcia had nothing to be ashamed of. Despite falling short in-ring, Garcia saw the distance and stood till the final bell.

It was a lopsided affair in favor of ‘The Truth’, whereas Mikey Garcia remained on the receiving end of dominance. With the more professional experience to his side, Garcia looked promising against Spence Jr. Nevertheless, welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr. had figured out Garcia’s game plan by then.

He landed flush shots, jabs, hooks and took out sheer energies from Mikey Garcia throughout the night. While Mikey Garcia saw a few moments of success, they were too bleak to tout him as the superior puncher. After a 12-round war, the judges awarded the win to Errol Spence Jr. by a unanimous decision of 120-107, 120-108, 120-108.
