‘Bend It Like Beckham’ – Placekicker Matt Wright Stars As Jacksonville Jaguars Beat Miami To End Losing Streak
It was the battle of the Floridians, as Miami Dolphins squared up against Jacksonville Jaguars. Instead of Florida, this battle took place in the beautiful Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London. The English crowd witnessed a nail-biting battle what went right down to the wire. However, Jaguars’ placekicker Matt Wright rescued them with two incredible field goals.
Matt Wright channels inner David Beckham to beat Miami Dolphins
Competing in the stadium where Harry Kane, Son Heung-min and other Tottenham stars have played, Matt Wright channeled some other-wordly strength to power the Jaguars to a big win. He scored two crucial field goals as Urban Meyer’s team narrowly beat the Dolphins. Tua Tagovailoa’s return to the NFL did not go the way he wanted.
First, credit to Trevor Lawrence for fielding such intense pressure on his young shoulders. The quarterback wasn’t on fleek, but held up his end of the bargain against Miami Dolphins. There were a few controversial decisions as well which went against both teams, but the drama on the field superseded it.

Matt Wright’s first field goal resembled a David Beckham free-kick, which led to the commentators making the intelligent call. When he took the shot, the ball darted off target by a good five feet, but curved as it neared the goal post and fell into the bottom corner. It was a kick that would’ve left Beckham with his jaw on the ground.

Now, Beckham made a name for himself with long range screamers. With his 50 yard stunner for Manchester United against AFC Wimbledon, to his magnificent free-kick for England against Greece. The English legend will unfortunately have to bow down to Matt Wright today, after he nailed a 54 and 53 yard kick to win the game for the Jaguars.

While Miami Dolphins vs Jacksonville Jaguars was a strange choice for an international fixture, both teams proved why they deserved the spot. In a week where we’ll witness the Chiefs face Washington, Patriots vs Dallas and Bears vs Packers, this match certainly stole the show.

Tua Tagovailoa opened Miami’s account with a beautiful touchdown pass, finished off by Jaylen Waddle. Unfortunately, it wouldn’t be his day as Trevor Lawrence and the Jaguars were determined to end their losing streak. Refusing to go 0-6, the Jaguars snapped the second longest losing streak in NFL history.

While neither teams looks the favorite to make it to the playoffs, they will remember the classic match inside London’s finest stadium.
