A man has revealed how he spends over £1,000 every month on his tanning routine, including sunbeds, fake tan and injections which are illegal in the UK.

Alison Hammond told Jimmy Featherstone he is ‘beautiful the way you are’ as he opened up on his daily process after falling in love with tanning aged 15 after being inspired by his ‘glamorous’ mother.

Appearing on ITV’s This Morning on Monday, he explained: ‘I do it because I feel it makes me better… I don’t leave the house without a tan. It makes me feel good in myself. It’s something that I love.

‘Some people won’t leave the house without makeup, I won’t leave the house without a tan.’

He insisted by getting a ‘darker’ tan, he’s ‘achieving something’ he’s keen on, and Alison quipped: ‘You wanna look black like me, babes?’

He replied: ‘I do, babes.’

Alison and her co-host Dermot O’Leary quizzed Jimmy on his use of tanning injections, which he buys online although they are illegal in the UK.

‘The first time I did that, I was 18 and I was in bed for about two days, I was really poorly,’ he admitted. ‘I was really hot and really sick. I still do it now… I’m used to it now.’

Dr. Sara appeared on the show and advised Jimmy against using the injections as she noted they are ‘unregulated’, and so there is no guarantee of the quality or side effects, as well as no knowledge about what else is in them besides the tanning agent.

Jimmy noted he also goes on sunbeds twice a day, which Sara doesn’t recommend, as she added: ‘ There is no safe way to tan. We know that sunbeds can increase your risk of skin cancer up to 20%.’

Dermot suggested the idea of just using fake tan without injections or tanning beds, while Alison admitted she ‘absolutely loved’ the spray tan she had on Strictly Come Dancing.

‘The safest way is to use spray tans and fake tans,’ Dr. Sara added. ‘Ultimately, the best thing to do would be to love the skin you’re in.’

‘Tan beds and the sun are not safe,’ she added.

Jimmy explained he wants to ‘give anything a go once’, and he revealed he was actually planning to head to Germany for a ‘nose job’ before postponing the procedure until March because of his This Morning appearance.

‘I love the plastic look,’ he said, admitting he likes that people call him the ‘Ken Doll’. Now that I’ve been labelled as the Ken Doll, I do actually like the way he looks.’

‘I’ll always be the same person on the inside,’ he added, insisting he isn’t doing it for other people’s approval. ‘It’s more the fact that I’m doing it for me.

‘I’m a very happy person, there’s nothing wrong with the way I feel… Purely do it because I wanna change the way I look and that’s because I like the outcome.’

When it comes to plastic surgery, Dr. Sara encouraged anyone considering it to get a second opinion, and advised: ‘Make sure you find someone that’s regulated, have had good reviews by other people.’

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
