The Masked Singer fans were in a state of shock after the latest reveal on the off-the-wall singing show in the US, as The Hot Chick and Saturday Night Live star Rob Schneider was revealed to be Hamster.

In week five of the competition, Hamster went up against Bull, Pepper, Skunk and Jester, singing a passionate rendition of Sabor a Mí by Luis Miguel.

Hamster performed Oh, Pretty Woman by Roy Orbison and Crazy Little Thing Called Love by Queen in previous weeks, with the judges guessing that it could be comedians including Will Ferrell, David Spade or Jim Breuer.

Judge Jenny McCarthy was the only one to correctly guess Rob, sussing out one of the clues that pointed towards his stint on SNL.

Despite impressing the panel and audience with his voice, it was Hamster’s turn to bid the competition farewell, as presenter Nick Cannon introduced Rob underneath the mask.

The 57-year-old explained in his exit interview that he’d always wanted to be a singer when he first started out in his career, as he was left to choose between pursuing a career in either singing or comedy.

His daughter, singer Elle King, ended up going down the musical route instead.

‘This is very pathetic. I don’t think I’ve ever worked harder on anything in my life,’ Rob said.

‘But that last time to get a chance to sing a song again in front of the audience was beautiful, and I’m very grateful for that. Thank you.’

While several people figured out that it was Rob under the mask, piecing together the clues and his singing voice, others were astounded to discover his vocal talents.

‘Wow I didn’t know Rob Schneider could sing!’ one person tweeted, while another remarked: ‘Rob Schneider has a really nice voice. Who knew?’

‘Rob Schneider…I am shocked….so didn’t know he had that voice on him….’ someone else said, while another person wrote: ‘I did not expect those vocals to come out of Rob Schneider’s mouth.’

There are still nine celebrities left in the competition, following the eliminations of stars including Toni Braxton, Tyga and Larry the Cable Guy.

This summer, Rob sparked controversy over tweets regarding coronavirus vaccines, dubbing it ‘experimental gene therapy’.

Underneath a tweet that he shared in July, Twitter flagged it as ‘misleading’, with an alert reading: ‘This Tweet is misleading. Find out why health officials consider COVID-19 vaccines safe for most people.’

The alert included a link to a page on Twitter outlining that scientists and public health experts state that the Covid-19 vaccines are safe for most people.

The Masked Singer airs on Fox in the US.
