Jesy Nelson was quite literally in high spirits as she enjoyed a night out to celebrate the release of her new single, Boyz, while thanking fans for their support amid the blackfishing allegations.
The former Little Mix singer hit the town this week with a group of friends, including rumoured boyfriend Harry James, who also directed the Boyz music video.
In the latest photos shared to her Instagram, Jesy, 30, is seen hugging a female friend while sat at a dinner table with several other pals. The group are then pictured raising shot glasses as another photo features a small dessert with ‘congratulations’ written on the plate with icing that was presented to Jesy.
She defiantly captioned the post: ‘It’s only the beginning ❤️ #Boyz.’
In her Instagram stories, the singer wrote: ‘I just want to say I literally have the most incredible fans in the world and I love you all endlessly.’
Jesy’s solo debut got off to a rocky start with the popstar accused of blackfishing in the Boyz music video. Critics felt the singer had darkened her skin and wore curly hair to appear black or racially ambiguous.

She denied these claims but the situation escalated when social media influencer NoHun leaked DMs allegedly belonging to Little Mix’s Leigh-Anne Pinnock. In the messages, Leigh-Anne is alleged to have called her former bandmate ‘horrible’ and also accused her of blackfishing.
Nicki Minaj, who features on Boyz, then hosted an Instagram live with Jesy where she defended her collaborator against the appropriation claims, while calling out Leigh-Anne and Little Mix.
Days later, Leigh-Anne was filmed appearing to address the controversy during a speech at her 30th birthday party.
She tearfully told her friends and family: ‘I’m 30 years old, I know my character, you all know my character, everyone who meets me knows my character. That’s all I care about.’

The singer added: ‘And best believe everything I stand for, everything I’m fighting for is for them. And I will never stop. I’ve found my voice now and I will continue to use it. Now tonight, we celebrate life, family, good health. I love you all.’
Despite the criticism, Jesy managed to land a healthy chart position with Boyz, which debuted at number four on the UK chart.
