I’m an unpaid carer for my family and they never say thank you

DEAR DEIDRE: MY life is like Cinderella’s – but there is no fairy godmother or handsome prince to rescue me.

I have been caring for my mother and older sisters, who all have physical and mental health problems, since I was eight.

Nobody ever thanks me for what I do – they just insult me and put me down

No issue is too small, too large or too embarrassing. Read our personal replies here.

I am a woman of 24 and do all the housework, shopping, cooking and washing.

I sort the bills, pick up their medication, put out the bins . . . the list feels endless. It’s a life of drudgery and it’s making me depressed.

Nobody ever thanks me for what I do. They just insult me and put me down.

I have no life of my own and nobody will help.

I have been to my GP and she has written to adult social services but they say there is nothing they can do.

The pandemic was awful because there was no escape from them.

I am an unpaid live-in carer. What should I do?
