WWE SmackDown results, grades: Brock Lesnar decimates Adam Pearce, The Bloodline and more

The Beast was on the warpath (Picture: WWE)

Brock Lesnar caused utter chaos on SmackDown as he utterly destroyed WWE official Adam Pearce, The Bloodline and a bunch of the blue brand roster.

The Beast Incarnate was incensed after being screwed out of the Universal Championship at Crown Jewel on Thursday night and he ended up getting indefinitely suspended after a path of destruction.

The show kicked off with Roman Reigns coming to celebrate his 417th day with the gold, before once again questioning Paul Heyman’s allegiances.

He brilliantly slated Heyman for not being able to hand him a title belt properly, insisting he’s not good at his job – but insisted he is, especially after carrying the company for 18 months.

He laughed off Lesnar’s threat on Twitter, and refused to leave the ring until his rival came out to face him man-to-man.

After the break, the Tribal Chief was still talking – but Brock came out just as he was about to leave, and business really picked up.

He destroyed Reigns, blasted him with the steel ring steps, then took out The Usos and started throwing everyone around, including the ring crew and a cavalry of SmackDown talent.

He backed off in the end and held the Universal Title over his head in the middle of the ring.

However, there was more drama to come as we came back from another break to Pearce announcing that Brock is now indefinitely suspended for his actions.

This led to an F-5 to the WWE official, with Lesnar being written off TV for a while in the absolute best way and coming across as a destructive babyface to the delight of the crowd.

Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch exchange championships, King Xavier Woods’ coronation, Hit Row debut and more

Skipping to the show’s main event segment, WWE had announced a Championship Exchange Ceremony between Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair to get the Raw and SmackDown titles back on their respective brands.

As uninspired as this is – and it undeniably is – at least they tried to make a big deal out of it rather than The New Day and Street Profits’ backstage segment last year.

Flair and Lynch joined Sonya Deville in the ring, with neither woman happy and the Queen actually dropping her belt to the ground before picking it up and handing it to Sonya.

Becky then throws her title at Sonya and angrily takes the Raw strap, with Flair posing and suggesting a Winner Takes All Match – but they were interrupted by Sasha Banks.

She claimed to run the blue brand and said Charlotte’s ‘out of her damn mind’ if she thinks otherwise – and the pair brawled after Lynch left the ring, with the show ending after Banks hit the Meteora on Flair and Deville had to separate them.

Back to the rest of the show, as the first match saw Sami Zayn – complete with new entrance music – answer Drew McIntyre’s open challenge as the pair delivered a fun sprint with the Scotsman looking fantastic in victory.

This blue brand switch should take the former WWE Champion back to the top off the card, and he looked back to his best here.

Kofi KIngston helped crown his New Day partner Xavier Woods (Picture: WWE)

Kofi Kingston introduced Xavier Woods for his King of the Ring coronation, giving him his cloak, sceptre and crown.

Our new WWE monarch promised to be fair, and teased his own gospel before soaking in the adulation of his people in a great moment for the New Day man, who fully deserves a run as king.

Mansoor beat Mustafa Ali two nights in a row in a fun but abridged version of their Crown Jewel bout.

We also got some brief but effective promos introducing new SmackDown stars Ridge Holland, Aliyah, Sheamus and the team of Humberto Carrillo and Angel Garza.

Speaking of new stars, Hit Row made their proper main roster debut and came across as top level talent as Isaiah ‘Swerve’ Scott, Ashante ‘Thee’ Adonis, B-Fab and Top Dolla cut great promos marking their first night on the blue brand.

Then, Dolla and Swerve beat Dustin Lawyer and Daniel Williams in a fantastically-executed squash match, suggesting the quarter can go far on the brand if WWE simply lets them do their thing.

More: US TV news

Despite the rest of the show being pretty great at establishing a new era of SmackDown, there was time for another retreat as Happy Corbin beat Shinsuke Nakamura in a Championship Contenders match to earn a shot at the Intercontinental Title.

It was a decent match with Madcap moss taking out Rick Boogs to provide the distraction for Corbin to win, but sadly this feud is something we’ve already seen too much of.

Hopefully, it’s just a matter of time before we move on – whether that’s with Nakamura getting a new challenger, or Corbin getting a run with the gold.

*WWE SmackDown airs Friday nights at 1am on BT Sport 1.
