Genshin Impact 2.3 Update: How Arataki Itto and Gorou Can Change the Current Meta

Players are very excited about the upcoming characters in Genshin Impact 2.3 update. Developers announced two new characters coming in the next update, Arataki Itto and Gorou belonging to the Geo element. Although both of the characters look quite attractive, many players have doubts about whether to invest in them because of the Geo element.

Geo element was not able to meet players’ expectations right after the game’s release. However, miHoYo tried to fix the element by introducing a Geo resonance buff in the 1.3 update. Regardless, when it comes to Geo characters, only Zhongli holds a spotlight.

A majority of players ignore Geo characters in Spiral Abyss, except Zhongli. Now the question arises whether Arataki Itto and Gorou’s arrival could change players’ opinions about the Geo element.

Will players experience a Geo meta in Genshin Impact 2.3 update?

The major downfall of the Geo element is that it can’t trigger various reactions with other elements. It will only trigger a Crystallize reaction with other elements. This reaction creates Elemental Shards of the corresponding element, which provide characters shields of that element. Therefore, players cannot deal tremendous damage to their enemies and only use Geo characters as support units.

Although Anemo characters also trigger only one elemental reaction called Swirl, the four-piece bonus of Viridescent Venerer artifact set helps a lot in unleashing the Anemo character’s full potential. Furthermore, in order to get the bonus from the Geo resonance players’ active characters must be equipped with a shield.

In case the shield runs out, the Geo resonance bonus will also not be applied to players’ main damage dealer. Other than Zhongli, players can try other characters like Diona, Xinyan, Noelle, or Thoma. Thus, if Arataki Itto and Gorou couldn’t provide shields to themselves, then using these characters would be beneficial.

The best thing would be if miHoYo decides to release a new artifact set, especially for Geo characters. There are no five-star artifacts that scale on characters’ defense like Noelle. If Arataki Itto kit also scales on his defense like Noelle, then developers will definitely release a new artifact set to increase his effectiveness.
