The Red Bull prodigy took a forgiving approach while answering questions about his rival, seven-time World Champion, Lewis Hamilton.

He has further revealed that he hopes that their intense battle will go on until the final race of the nail-biting F1 season. Leading up to the United States Grand Prix in Austin, Verstappen is just six points ahead of the defending champion. This Grand Prix will be the first time F1 sets foot on US soil in two years and over 140,000 fans are expected to attend the Race Weekend.

Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton are locked in a neck-to-neck fight

Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton have clashed with each other quite a few times throughout the season. The first being four months back ago Verstappen had to be hospitalized after being punted off the track by Hamilton and hitting the Barriers at around 180mph on the opening lap of the British Grand Prix. Verstappen was understandably angry, and the fault for the crash was deemed to be Hamilton’s.

However, the tables turned three months later when the pair clashed again at Monza, this time, the fault, as judged by the FIA, being Verstappen’s. The two title contenders came together at Turn 1 with the Red Bull being flung on top of Hamilton’s car and the right rear tire hitting Hamilton’s helmet.

We have got together a few times and we were not happy with each other, said Verstappen. “But a few races later you can see us sitting together in a press conference and laughing with each other again, and that is how racing goes.

A lot of people look at you and rate the rivalry, but at the end of the day, it is not all that bad. Nobody looks to get together in a race but unfortunately, these things happen. They have happened in go-karting and they have happened in Formula One.

“We all have those times where we have low moments with someone, but we are human beings. We move on, and we forgive,” concluded Max.

Fans are loving the 2021 title fight between Max and Lewis

Even though the Dutchman has not been afraid of any controversies in the past and has always spoken his mind, his current comments are definitely a sign of his growing maturity. It is nearly impossible to stand at this point in time and predict a winner, and F1 hasn’t seen this close a competition in a long time.

The Circuit of The Americas has been Hamilton’s hunting ground in the past, with him winning five of his eight races in Austin.

However, Verstappen has had good luck in the last few races. In the Russian GP, even though he started from the back, he came up the ranks, thanks to the torrential rain. Finally, in a race where Mercedes hoped to put a huge difference between Lewis and Max, the latter made a podium finish and maintained his title run. Now, his fans will definitely wish to see him achieve good points on his Merc rival so that he stays ahead in the Championship standings.
