Lakers Fans Lash Out at NBA For Alleged Officiating Bias During Phoenix Suns Game

Los Angeles Lakers have had a rough start to the 2021-22 NBA campaign as they lost both of their games this season. They now remain winless throughout the preseason and regular season. With such a monstrous roster, these results are disappointing.

However, during the game against the Suns, there were some controversial calls from the match referee. Some calls affected the Lakers and broke their rhythm in between the game. It’s always hard to digest such calls, especially when the team is losing.

While the players have to move on from those calls, it’s a hard pill to swallow for the fans. Lakers fans are furious over some of the referee decisions from the Suns game.

Los Angeles Lakers fans lash out at poor refereeing in the Suns game

Lakers fans have taken to Reddit to show display their outrage over some ‘biased‘ calls during the Suns game. In one such situation, the referee gave a foul when Russell Westbrook accidentally landed on a Suns player while taking a shot. However, Westbrook was in an uncomfortable situation, and the foul was not intentional. In fact, the Suns player was already falling on Russell.

Fouls affected the Lakers a lot throughout the game. Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook received two fouls in the first quarter of the game itself. From that point on, the Lakers fans inside the arena turned on the referee. Even LeBron James received his third foul during a pivotal moment in the 2nd quarter. His third foul was then upgraded to a flagrant foul. The Suns picked up the pace after that and extended their lead to double digits. The referees are human, after all, and can make mistakes.

However, poor refereeing aside, the Lakers performed below average throughout the game. They tried to make a late comeback in the fourth quarter against the Suns, but in the end, they just reduced their losing margin. Frank Vogel and the Lakers have a lot to work on and a win in the next game could boost the team as well as the fans’ morale.
