Mason Mount rewarded patient Dream Team bosses with a hat-trick – now can he kick on?
WHEN Romelu Lukaku (£5.8m) and Timo Werner (£3.3m) were ruled out of Chelsea’s home game against Norwich, all eyes turned to Kai Havertz (£3.5m).
It seemed natural that the young German would lead the line against the Canaries, and that’s exactly what happened, but he wasn’t the man to cash in against the Premier League’s bottom-placed side – Mason Mount (£4.0m) seized the opportunity instead.
The England international scored a hat-trick and assisted another as the Blues racked up a 7-0 win on Saturday.

In truth, Mount hadn’t really turned up for his Dream Team owners until the weekend’s 30-point windfall.
Prior to Norwich’s visit to Stamford Bridge, the 22-year-old had registered zero goals and one assist in all competitions.
A few 7+ ratings meant his points tally wasn’t a total letdown but it certainly didn’t match up to his ownership – he currently features in 16.2% of teams.
However, that’s all changed after his hat-trick and those patient Dream Team gaffers who stuck by him will hope for more handsome returns in the coming weeks.
At this early stage of the season, a hat-trick can propel any player up the rankings and that’s precisely what happened to Mount this weekend.
He wasn’t even in the top 30 midfielders at the start of Game Week 9 but he now suddenly finds himself as the sixth-best player in his position.

Mount’s tally of 47 points put him just above Phil Foden (£5.5m) who also catapulted himself up the rankings this weekend after taking Brighton for 20 points.
Not only should Mount’s morale be at an all-time high after his first hat-trick for Chelsea, but he should also be encouraged by the upcoming fixtures.
Thomas Tuchel’s side play Southampton this evening in the Carabao Cup and face Newcastle, Malmo and Burnley before the next international break.
Nothing is assured of course but favourable match-ups generally produce more points for the popular assets and so Mount owners should feel confident for the next month at least.
