“He’s Leaving the UFC” – Josh Thomson Reveals Massive News on Nate Diaz and Jake Paul

Nate Diaz is coming to the end of his UFC contract, UFC President Dana White, in the press conference after UFC Fight Night 196 confirmed.

There is still speculation if Diaz will sign a new contract with the promotion or move forward. Many believe that he’s targeting a fight against ‘The Problem Child’, Jake Paul. Paul has been making a lot of noise since becoming a professional boxer and has a 4-0 record. If former UFC fighter and current Bellator commentator Josh Thomson is to be believed, that’s exactly what he’ll do.

Thomson in a podcast with John McCarthy said, “I want you guys all to know this. He’s leaving the UFC, he’s fighting Jake Paul. Just stop. This is his last fight. He’s not fighting in the UFC anymore, he’s going to leave, he’s gonna fight Jake Paul… He knows that fight (with Paul) is gonna make him probably double what he’s gonna make. They’re gonna fight.”

Fighting Paul is going to be big money for sure. And boxing is not something Diaz is unfamiliar with. Along with being a Brazilian jiu-jitsu practitioner, Diaz’s boxing skills are also top notch. Going by his popularity, a fight against Paul will definitely get a lot of attention and garner a lot of revenue.

Final UFC appearance for Nate Diaz?

The Stockton native last entered the octagon at UFC 263 against Leon Edwards. Despite landing an almost fight-ending strike in the final round, he ended up losing the fight via a unanimous decision. With just one fight left in his contract, people have been speculating about who his opponent will be.

Nate Diaz looked to have called out Tony Ferguson on Twitter, but White shut down that matchup and said they were working on a fight for him. He said, “He’s got one more fight. We’re working on a fight for him. Tony wasn’t one of the guys we were working on, but we’re working on a fight for Nate now. He’s got one fight left.”

Former UFC fighter Chael Sonnen also said that Nate is looking to fight Jake Paul after his last fight, while also hinting at his next opponent. According to him, Diaz reached out to him, asking for his suggestion regarding who he should fight. Sonnen said that the Stockton native likes the idea of fighting Vicente Luque. He said he liked the number next to his name (number 3), to which Sonnen asked, “Wait a minute. Why do you wanna be the top contender if you don’t plan to use that contendership?”

Sonnen also said, “This is all about Jake Paul. Nate going and boxing Jake Paul. But why wanna do that with Luque? And he said, ‘Well, you know those are the types of matchups I like to do.’ And he said, ‘Chael, what do you think about Tony Ferguson?’ My first thought about Ferguson was  he’s a 155-pounder. My other thought on Tony Ferguson, ‘Nate, what in the heck has taken so long?’ That would be one of the most massive fights.”

Nate Diaz vs. Tony Ferguson is sure to be a banger for the fans. However, it is still yet to be decided who he will go up against.

Who do you want Nate Diaz fighting? What do you think of him fighting Jake Paul? Let us know in the comments!
