Eamonn Holmes has taken to Twitter to reassure a concerned friend that he is ‘doing ok’ after testing positive for coronavirus.
The presenter, 61, had been forced to cancel upcoming work after testing positive for Covid-19 earlier in the week.
Responding to a tweet reading: ‘Hope you get well soon,’ Eamonn replied: ‘So do I Rob. Doing ok,’ along with a thumbs up emoji.
Eamonn had revealed on Tuesday that he had contracted coronavirus and had already been isolating at home, and was grateful to have had both vaccines.
He wrote: ‘Covid finally caught me. Thankfully I’m Double jabbed. More than Half way through my isolation and coping with the symptoms and effects well.
‘Unfortunately I’m going to be a No Show for some Professional & Personal events. Just want to let everyone know why & offer my apologies.’
People who have received both vaccinations against coronavirus can still catch the virus, but it lowers the risk of becoming seriously ill, hospitalised or dying from Covid-19.
Eamonn said in July: ‘I know people who have been double jabbed and they have Covid and they were saying to me, “You would not want to get this” so double jab is not going to prevent this happening.’

His wife Ruth Langsford responded: ‘Not 100%, but it provides protection and it hopefully stops you getting very ill with it or dying, but it doesn’t stop you getting it or spreading it actually.’
It comes after he and Ruth also revealed they would be spending Christmas apart this year so they can see their respective mothers after being apart from them during the coronavirus pandemic.

Speaking to Woman and Home about their plans for Christmas, Eamonn revealed: ‘We have this issue now, in that we’ve got a sea dividing us. We often have a dilemma of whether I go to Belfast, whether Ruth comes with me.
‘But Ruth wants to be with her mum [in Surrey]. My mother is 93 this year. It’s easier for us often to be apart.’
