Warning: spoilers ahead for episode 6 of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK season 3.

The Snatch Game episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK season 3 was eventful to say the least, with the queens reading each other to filth in the mini challenge, delivering some iconic celebrity impersonations in the maxi challenge and showcasing fruity fashion on the runway.

However, the biggest shock came right at the end of the episode, when Ru revealed she had decided to eliminate both of the queens in the bottom two with a brutal double sashay away.

After their Snatch Game performances and runway looks were assessed, Choriza May and River Medway were selected as the bottom two queens of the week.

Ru explained that she was ‘splitting hairs’ deciding who would be at the bottom of the contest at this stage of the series, with there being only seven queens left in the running to be named the UK’s next Drag Superstar.

For Snatch Game, Choriza showcased her exuberant personality as Cuban singer Margarita Pracatan, while River decided to pay homage to Essex with her impression of Towie star Amy Childs.

On the runway, Choriza expressed her pride in her peachy, Carmen Miranda-inspired dress and headpiece, while River created her own ensemble designed to look like a fun fruit bowl.

However, neither managed to impress the judges enough to avoid the lip sync, performing Lulu’s track Shout in front of the singer herself, who was a guest judge this week.

At the beginning of the joint performance, Choriza removed her headdress to hastily replace it with a wig, while River slipped out of her outfit’s skirt so she could leap around the stage freely, ending the lip sync with a dramatic split.

Despite Ru smiling during the lip sync, with Lulu cheering in support, when it ended, the head judge’s face was expressionless, before she revealed the cutting decision she had made.

Explaining that she had wanted to see more out of the lip sync, Ru informed Choriza and River that they would both be sashaying away as the rest of the queens gasped in shock.

Drag Race UK fans were similarly astonished by the turn of events, with several expressing their huge disappointment that two fan favourites are out of the competition.

‘NOT CHORIZA AND RIVER AT THE SAME TIME?!?!???!! We ended up losing both the fan faves for the season,’ one person tweeted with a sobbing emoji.

‘Not them sending the two fan faves home in one episode…’ someone else remarked in shock.

One dumbfounded fan wrote: ‘Well that was…. a choice,’ in response to the double elimination.

‘THROW THIS ENTIRE SEASON IN THE BIN,’ another viewer said with fury at the result.

Choriza and River walked off the stage hand in hand, as the remaining queens dwindled from seven to five.

‘Now, you may not have gone all the way. But my love for you is here to stay. Sashay away,’ Ru told them both as they made their emotional exits.

River said: ‘It feels so shit, but just because I didn’t go all the way, it doesn’t mean I haven’t done really good. I’m really happy with my time here.’

Choriza added: ‘It’s time to Brexit bitches! I think everyone back home watching, my family, my boyfriend, I think they are all going to be really proud of me.’

We definitely think both Choriza and River have done themselves extremely proud.

RuPaul’s Drag Race UK returns next Thursday at 7pm on BBC Three and is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
