Camp Bestival co-founder confirms it will go ahead this summer
Camp Bestival is taking place this summer, co-founder Rob da Bank has said.
The event, which was cancelled last year due to the pandemic, is going ahead in late July.
It comes after Prime Minister Boris Johnson laid out a ‘roadmap’ to ending lockdown completely by June 21, including the reopening of nightclubs and large events restarting.
Rob gave a statement to Good Morning Britain on Thursday saying he is ‘counting’ the days to when they can return to Lulworth Estate.
The DJ said: ‘There is literally nothing [co-founder] Josie and I like more in life than standing in a field surrounded by family and friends, dressed in daft outfits dancing to amazing bands and DJs…and Mr Tumble…and that’s exactly what we plan to be doing at Camp Bestival in 154 days, 15 hours and 27 minutes…not that we’re counting.’
On the Camp Bestival website the dates for 2021 are stated as July 29 to August 1, with the likes of Kelis, Sophie Ellis Bextor and Fatboy Slim on the bill.
Reading and Leeds Festival has already confirmed it will take place this August with Stormzy and Liam Gallagher set to headline.
However Glastonbury has already been officially cancelled this year, with organisers Michael and Emily Eavis saying they will be taking ‘an enforced fallow year’.
‘In spite of our efforts to move Heaven & Earth, it has become clear that we simply will not be able to make the Festival happen this year. We are so sorry to let you all down,’ they said.
