Famous UFC Announcer Bruce Buffer Breaks His 25-Year Streak- Will Not Announce at UFC 267

The Ultimate Fighting Championship is back with another action packed event. UFC 267 will take place this weekend inside Etihad Arena at “UFC Fight Island” on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, U.A.E.

UFC 267 is one of the biggest events this year. However, it will miss one of the most important aspect of UFC. Bruce Buffer, who has been the voice for announcements inside the octagon for more than 25 years, will not attend UFC 267.

According to UFC president Dana White, contracted COVID-19, which prevented him from traveling to U.A.E. White in a pre-fight press conference said, “Buffer got COVID. He didn’t want to make this trip. He’s home relaxing and recovering from COVID.”

This is the first 64-year-old will not announce at a UFC event in 25-years. However, Buffer has been replaced by Joe Martinez for the event. Furthermore, the UFC 267 will feature one light heavyweight title and bout and an interim bantamweight title bout.

UFC 267: Petr Yan vs Cory Sandhagen: More Than an Interim Title Bout

The Russian bantamweight fighter Petr Yan is one of the most dominant fighter in the UFC. He certainly dominated his opponent, Aljamain Sterling, in his first UFC title defense. However, one mistake cost him his bantamweight gold. ‘No Mercy’ landed an illegal knee in the fourth round of the bout, which had him disqualified at UFC 259.

Both the men were scheduled for a rematch at UFC 267. However, Sterling pulled off from the fight due to a neck injury. This was another blow for the former champion. However, now he has a chance to fast-track his UFC gold quest.
