Paris Masters Director Reveals Twist in Novak Djokovic’s Career, Draws Parallel With Jimmy Connors

The Paris Masters is inching closer in the capital city. All the tennis stars are ready to present their best performances at the last masters event. The World No. 1, Novak Djokovic is finally making comeback after a shocking loss at US Open 2021 finals. Just recently, in the pre-tournament press conference, Paris Masters’ director Guy Forget talked about the sympathy Djokovic is receiving from the capital.

He believes people have started to show some respect for the 20-time Grand Slam champion. Forget also highlighted Jimmy Connors, who felt the same situation in the later phase of his career.

The capital is supporting Novak Djokovic, says the tournament’s director

Novak Djokovic has finally returned to the tennis court, as he’ll play the Masters event in Paris. Just before the competition, Guy Forget, the tournament’s director discussed the heartwarming environment he has been receiving. Despite not being as popular as Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, fans in Paris have begun to admire the world’s best player.

Forget said, “Of course, we are delighted to have Novak with us. I think his choice is also linked to the fact that he will go to the Masters, and to the Davis Cup. To perform there, he needs benchmarks, to re-adjust, to find the target.”

He then compared Djokovic with Connors. “Moreover, concerning Novak, I find that the capital sympathy towards him is changing. This had happened especially in my time with Jimmy Connors but for the American, it had come to the end of his career and he was not at the level of Nole.”

Djokovic likely to meet Stefanos Tsitsipas in the semi-finals

The draw for the Paris Masters has been announced. Surprisingly, Djokovic has been handed a tough path on his journey. The five-time Paris Master champion is likely to face Stefanos Tsitsipas in the semi-finals of the competition.
