Lorraine Kelly has questioned whether Alec Baldwin and his family needed to share their Halloween celebration photos.

The actor, his wife Hilaria and their children posed for pictures in fancy dress just weeks after he discharged a gun on the Rust movie set accidentally killing Halyna Hutchins, 42, and injuring director Joel Souza.

Following his comments on the devastating incident, Alec’s partner posted a string of images and videos as they enjoyed a low-key Halloween with their kids.

‘Parenting through this has been an intense experience, to say the least,’ Hilaria wrote. ‘Today, we rallied to give them a holiday. Last min costumes…a little hodge-podge…but they were so happy and that warmed my mama heart.’

Lorraine discussed the pictures on today’s episode of Lorraine and she was a little confused.

‘He also posted a very bizarre photograph, I think it was Hilaria, of the family dressed up for Halloween with Alec Baldwin in the background there,’ she said as a photo of the whole clan popped up on screen.

‘I’m not sure what he’s meant to be, maybe a Viking or something? It seemed like quite a strange one to do?’

‘Yeah,’ entertainment reporter Ross King agreed. ‘The idea we believe is to try and regain some form of normality. Again, it’s such a strange one.’

Lorraine went on to say: ‘It’s horrendous, absolutely horrendous, just so terribly sad.

‘But as far as the photo and all of that go, she can do that and they can do their Halloween, of course they can, but they don’t necessarily need to share it I guess at this particular time.’

Hutchins, a 42-year-old rising star in the film industry, was killed on October 21 on the set of Rust at Bonanza Creek Ranch in Santa Fe.

Director Joel Souza was also injured, though he is now recovering after leaving hospital.

How the shooting occurred has been the subject of intense speculation.

Two people handled the revolver, described by Santa Fe district attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies as an ‘antique era-appropriate gun’, before it was given to Alec, Santa Fe county sheriff Adan Mendoza said.

They were armourer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed and assistant director David Halls, according to authorities.

Alec is said to have been told the firearm was safe when he started rehearsing a scene that involved him pointing the gun at the camera.

During a press conference on Wednesday, sheriff Mendoza said there was ‘some complacency’ on the set but it is yet to be determined if there was negligence or by whom.

About 500 rounds of ammunition have been recovered from the set, thought to include dummies, blanks and suspected live rounds.

FBI experts will make the final determination but the sheriff said he suspects more live rounds will be confirmed.

Lorraine airs weekdays at 9am on ITV.
