Brandon Lee’s sister has sent a message of support for Alec Baldwin as she told to actor to ‘take care of himself’ after he accidentally shot Halyna Hutchins last month.

Last month, the 63-year-old discharged a gun on the set of the film Rust, accidentally killing the 42-year-old cinematographer and injuring director Joel Souza, 48.

During an appearance at the Asian World Film Festival, Shannon Lee shared her thoughts about Baldwin and actor Michael Massee (the man responsible for killing her brother Brandon, who died of cancer in 2016).

The daughter of the late martial arts legend Bruce Lee told Agence France-Presse: ‘I felt sorry for Michael Massee, I felt really sorry, because it is a horrible thing to cause someone else to die.

‘And I also feel sorry for Alec Baldwin. It’s really tough what he’s going through – he has to take care of himself.’

Shannon once again called for more ‘gun safety training’ on sets after her brother also died from a gunshot while filming The Crow in 1993 aged 28.

The 52-year-old martial artist stated: ‘I think that mandatory gun safety training [should be required] for the actor so that they can check the guns themselves and know how to use them appropriately, and so that they can keep others safe.’

The actor and producer previously paid her condolences to Hutchins’ family following the tragic accident.

A post from the official Brandon Bruce Lee Twitter account, which Shannon runs, read: ‘Our hearts go out to the family of Halyna Hutchins and to Joel Souza and all involved in the incident on “Rust”. No one should ever be killed by a gun on a film set. Period.’

30 Rock star Baldwin is reportedly ‘haunted’ by the death of the cinematographer after the tragic incident which took place in Santa Fe, New Mexico on October 21.

The actor has only been seen publicly a handful of times since he fired the gun which hit the mother-of-one, as well as director Souza, 48, during a rehearsal for a scene.

Santa Fe sheriff Adan Mendoza and Santa Fe district attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies shared a public update on the ongoing investigation in a press conference last week.

He later spoke out on video for the first time over the shooting and shared his devastation, describing the mother-of-one as his ‘friend’.

It was also confirmed Baldwin was the last one to hold the gun, after he was handed it by assistant director David Halls, who took the revolver from a tray set up by armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed.

It was said the gun was first taken out of a safe in a truck by prop master Sarah Zachry.

Mendoza confirmed that the investigation is ongoing and charges may be filed at a later date, if probable cause is found.
