Richard Madeley has reportedly been confirmed to replace Piers Morgan on Good Morning Britain after ‘impressing bosses’ during his stint on the show.

According to reports from The Sun, Richard’s deal is set to be worth £300,000 and will begin after his stint on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here.

Richard, 65, has reportedly signed up for a full-time job on the show after discussing it with wife Judy Finnigan, 73, after standing in temporarily.

A source told the paper: ‘Richard has always maintained he would never do GMB full-time, as he loves his life as it is.

‘But as the weeks have gone by, and he’s proven a constant hit with viewers, he’s really got into his stride and has been enjoying it more and more.’

The source added that ratings have ‘steadily been on the rise’ for the past six months, which gave him the push to go for it.

They continued: ‘After a couple of meetings with ITV bosses, he was offered a full-time contract. And after consulting with his family, especially wife Judy, he decided “sod it” — and to go for it.’

It is understood that Richard is still hashing out how many days a week he will present the show, but it is expected he will do three days a week like Piers had done.

The insider claims that the broadcaster does not want to announce Richard as an official replacement for Piers, 56, after he quit the show earlier in the year.

They added: ‘Officially they are still casting around for another potential full-time team member — hopefully another star name — so as to give the show a fresh new feel in 2022.’

Piers had quit GMB in March after refusing to apologise for comments he made about Meghan Markle following her and Prince Harry’s bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey.

He had walked off live on air before later confirming he would not be returning to the show.
