My days of flashing the flesh are over … it’s glam comfort all the way now, says Kelly Brook

KELLY BROOK is known for flaunting the flesh by wearing barely there dresses at film premieres.

But she says those ultra-glam days are over after lockdown and will instead start embracing elasticated waistbands, Spanx and mom jeans.

Kelly, 41, says: “I would never go out now in some of the revealing stuff I’d wear on the red carpet. I can think of nothing worse.

“I’d much rather have a night in and watch Squid Game on Netflix.

“I’ve just been there, done it. You move on, you change, get older. I don’t want to be cold, standing there freezing and thinking, ‘Why am I doing this?’.

“Everything was about getting attention back then. Tight and bright, it was short dresses, very revealing.

“Liz Hurley definitely set the trend for that with that Versace dress on the red carpet in the Nineties.

“Because that got so much positive attention, it set the way for everyone else, and we all started wanting to dress like Liz. But I think that’s changed a lot now.”

Television stars such as Kelly are hot property for fashion brands these days.

The likes of Holly Willoughby, Davina McCall, Amanda Holden and Georgia Toffolo have all joined forces with brands, including Marks & Spencer and JD Williams.

Similarly, Kelly has teamed up with F&F at Tesco for her third Christmas collection.

Expect all the exuberance and luxury of festive sparkles, pearls and satin but combined with comfort — which for Kelly is more important than ever.

Some of the standout pieces include a £45 cashmere jumper, luxe loungewear, a sparkly black party dress, jumpsuit, gold slouchy co-ord and belted leopard-print frock.

Kelly says: “It’s all about being kind to yourself, not beating yourself up for putting weight on during a pandemic and not forcing yourself back out and about 100 per cent.

“We’re just kind of gently encouraging people to look more glamorous, feel more glamorous — don’t apologise, get back out there.

“We’ve all lived with those elasticated waists for so long, so we’ve got this co-ord which is a beautiful gold. It’s luxurious but also really comfy — it could be pyjamas but it’s not.

DINNER AND COCKTAILS

“And you can’t go wrong with a little black dress.

“We’ve got two in the collection, including a short, glittery bodycon that is perfect for those girls who want to have a night on the town. It’s the ultimate Christmas party dress.

“Then we’ve got a more maxi-length dress, in this beautiful fabric. So if you’re having a New Year dinner and cocktails, it’s a nice option as well.”

Heart radio host Kelly has been in a relationship with Italian model Jeremy Parisi, 36, since 2015.

She says one of the LBDs will come in handy this Christmas when she visits his home country — and one of the world’s most romantic cities.

She adds: “We’ll be in Venice at some point, so I’ll definitely be putting a few of those black dresses in my suitcase because we’ll be having some nice dinners and looking at all the lovely festive lights.

“I think anywhere in Italy at Christmas is going to be spectacular. Anything’s going to be better than last Christmas, which was pretty much cancelled. It was so sad.”

Like many of us, Kelly lost her way with fitness after the pandemic took hold in early 2020.

PELETON CREW

But she has now found her mojo again after buying a Peleton exercise bike — a £2,000 digital model liked by celebrities including David Beckham and Kate Hudson.

Kelly says of keep-fit drills: “During the pandemic it all kind of went out the window because there were other things to think about. I think we definitely hit reset and now I feel much better about myself. I feel great in myself, I feel healthy and happy.

“I’ve just bought a Peleton bike, so I’m going to be part of the Peleton crew.

“During winter, when I get back from the radio, it’s dark outside and I think if I hop on the bike for 45 minutes that’ll get me through these months.”

But for Kelly, looking good is just as much about the way you dress.

She says: “I know what suits my body, what I’m comfortable in and what looks nice.

“I always have to pinch myself at the waist — so anything with a belt I like, to give a bit of shape.

“Otherwise I’d just be straight up, straight down.

“I think mom jeans are great. Baggy jeans are really fashionable right now.

“And it all starts with underwear, to be honest. As long as you’ve got a good bra and a good pair of Spanx, I don’t think you can really go wrong.”
