You couldn’t find a smile wider than on pop star Cheryl, who was spotted on her way to a Prince’s Trust event alongside Prince Charles on Tuesday.

The Girls Aloud singer was on hand to meet up with the Royal on his visit to the Cheryl’s Trust Centre in Newcastle upon Tyne, which is part of the prince’s charity and opened in February 2018.

Spotted arriving at the centre, a beaming Cheryl was channelling burgundy in matching boots, dress and jacket, and accessorised with some gold hoops.

A dapper Charles was seen arriving in the city earlier before visiting the Discovery Museum and walking to Cheryl’s Trust Centre, where the two were set to meet and speak about the charity’s work in the city.

In a joint venture with the Prince’s Trust, worth £2 million, Cheryl’s Trust aims to support disadvantaged young people in the community.

Speaking about the centre at its opening, the Fight For This Love singer said she wanted to do something for those in the area as she ‘struggled as a teenager’ and ‘if she didn’t get out of Newcastle she didn’t know where she’d be.’

It’s not the first time Cheryl has caught up with the Prince, with the pair having worked together within the Prince’s Trust since 2011. And showing the pair have a rapport, the Royal previously joked about the star’s ever-changing surname while praising her work with the charity.

Speaking at the Prince’s Trust Awards in 2018, Charles couldn’t help himself as he said: ‘I thought to myself some time ago “who’s Cheryl Tweedy?” I suddenly realised I knew the Cheryl bit but missed out on the Tweedy.

‘I can’t keep up with all the changes of names that the companies do either.’

The singer’s appearance at Cheryl’s Trust comes amid claims she’s be taking some time out from performing following the death of her bandmate, Sarah Harding.

The singer, 38, had cancelled appearances following the tragic news that Harding, 39, had died following her battle with breast cancer, with a source telling Closer: ‘The shock and devastation have hit her so hard. She’s not in any mindset to think about performing so she’s taking a little break to prioritise her wellbeing.’

In her return to the stage, Cheryl had performed at The Mighty Hoopla a day before Sarah died at the start of September and has not made any public appearances since.

She cancelled a performance at Birmingham Pride at the end of September, telling fans: ‘Saying goodbye to somebody you spent such a massive piece of your life with is like nothing else.

‘My heart is heavy. Grief is such a harsh experience and an absolute rollercoaster of emotions. Questions without answers and pain without resolve. So tumultuous and constant.

‘With that said I am so sorry but I really am not emotionally, mentally or physically able to perform for you this Saturday at Birmingham Pride.

‘I apologise wholeheartedly and I can only hope for your understanding. (I promise I will make it up to you somehow.)

‘I feel now I just need some time to sit with my feelings and process the grief. Nothing prepares you for this bit.’
