Errol Spence Jr. Goes Off on Belts in Boxing
Over the past few months, fans have openly talked about the concerns and confusions pertaining to too many belts in boxing. There are four prime boxing bodies, namely, WBO, WBA, IBF, and IBO, who have their individual belts. On top of that, these bodies also have interim straps which eventually clog every division up.

As it is for the fans, the presence of too many belts also creates confusion among fighters. Spence Jr. addressed the same and wrote, “It’s four champs in each weight class y’all for letting them with them a** belts..”

A few months back, the WBA took a giant step to reduce the belt confusion across all the weight classes. The WBA earlier had a ‘super’ champion belt, a ‘regular’ champion belt, and an interim belt. That said, this boxing governing body decided to cut the interim belts across all divisions.
With this, the WBA gained wide applause from hardcore boxing fans. And everyone seemed keen to see the other boxing organizations take the same or even bigger steps.
A few days back, the WBA, WBC, IBF, and IBO Presidents also had a meeting over a standard title unification process. All these four Presidents did not assert on keeping one belt per weight class, but they assured on working on several areas they agree to.

The undefeated welterweight champ brought up this subject, which was supposed to be discussed long back.
Every division has some high-class fighters, and it’d be intriguing to see every roster having an undisputed champ.
For that, boxing organizations will have to create a system wherein all the champs holding the four belts collide with each other to determine one genuine champ. However, they will also have to ensure that challengers get their shots at the champions on a regular basis.
