Great British Bake Off’s Lizzie Acker has opened up about her shock at her journey from being a ‘mad’ fan of the Channel 4 show to competing in the 2021 series.
The 28-year-old baker was eliminated during the quarter-final last night as judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith decided who to let go based on ‘who deserves their place in the semi-final’.
Writing in her letter following her exit, Lizzie hailed her time on the programme as a ‘10/10’ experience.
‘Being on Bake Off has been mental, I went from being a mad Bake Off fan and stalker of the past bakers to being in the tent,’ she penned. ‘I still can’t get my head round it.’
Lizzie continued: ‘It has been amazing meeting the most fabulous people and learning so much off them all, not all baking stuff but life skills like vocabulary, Greek dancing, and the benefits of peppermint tea (trust me, Freya and Crystelle used to drink every night).
‘Thanks for the support and lovely messages. Lizzie.’
Lizzie was applauded by viewers for opening up about her Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) on this week’s show.
ADHD is a condition that affects people’s behaviour and can make a person seem restless or affect concentration.
‘Some people think that ADHD, you’re gonna be crazy, like loads of energy, but loads of the time it’s like you’ve got too many thoughts in your head and you don’t actually know what to think about,’ she said.
