I’m A Celebrity 2021: Arlene Phillips bonds with new campmate David Ginola as she recovers from helicopter exit

The countdown to I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! 2021 is on, and Arlene Phillips is already bonding with her fellow campmates.

The choreographer, 78, was pictured chatting to former professional footballer David Ginola, 54, after getting out of a helicopter during filming.

Arlene seemed to be massaging her knee as she exited the chopper, as she prepares to dive in to castle life.

She was wrapped up in a jumper and coat, while the former Newcastle United footballer kept it cool in a leather jacket and jeans.

However, it won’t be long until we see them in their I’m A Celeb attire, as they settle into their new home of Gwrych Castle.

Arlene recently expressed her concerns about being the oldest campmate, not just in the new series but of all time.

Chatting to Metro.co.uk and other press, she said: ‘Everything in your body changes as you get older. But in terms of being the oldest, I think I’ve always been the oldest. When I was 36 and I had my first baby, it was shock, horror, this geriatric mother having a baby.

‘And then my second one at 47. “Are you sure? Having a baby at 47?” I feel like I’ve always been the oldest at doing something, so it’s nothing really to me.’

She is hoping to teach some of her fellow celebrities how to dance as they spend 24/7 together, not just to keep everyone entertained but also ‘because dance can keep you warm if it’s very cold’.

I’m A Celeb has returned to Wales for the second year in a row, after the pandemic prevented Ant and Dec from taking a new set of campmates to the Australian jungle last year.

A new star-studded line-up promises plenty of dramatic and hilarious moments (and memes, of course) as stars including Frankie Bridge, Danny Miller, Richard Madeley and Louise Minchin say goodbye to their lives of luxury for three weeks.

While there are, of course, plenty of Bushtucker Trials to come, the hit ITV show recently came under fire from the RSPCA, who have urged producers to stop using live animals in the show.

The charity wants the reality series to find a new way to entertain the public ‘without resorting to anti-animal Bushtucker Trials’.

ITV states that animals are always handled with care on set, and strict guidelines are followed to ensure everyone’s safety.

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! begins on Sunday at 9pm on ITV.
