“It’s Illegal To Throw Elbows”- Max Holloway Reveals What He Told Yair Rodriguez at the Hospital

Max Holloway is one of the most inspirational fighters in the UFC. Holloway has been consistently putting up exceptional performances and is amongst the best in the featherweight division. It’s safe to say that ‘Blessed’ is a future UFC Hall of Famer.

Holloway has contributed a lot to the promotion, and he is definitely one of the best strikers that the MMA world has seen. As of November 2021, Holloway stands seventh in the men’s pound for pound rankings.

Recently Holloway competed in one of the best fights of the year at UFC Vegas 42 last week. Holloway squared off against the Mexican fighter Yair Rodriguez and delivered five rounds of pure entertainment. Many believe that the fight Holloway and Rodriguez put up is the fight of the year. Holloway won the fight following a unanimous decision win, but overall it was a close fight and was definitely a nail-biter.

After the fight, both men were badly bruised and taken straight to the hospital for their injuries. UFC recently put up a video of Max talking about the moments he shared with Rodriguez after their fight.

Holloway told Rodriguez, “Your boxing head movement is ridiculous. But, you know it’s illegal to throw elbows in a boxing match, right? And he’s dying (laughing). He’s like, oh man dude. “

“Tough son of a gun. He’s so cool man he’s like telling me like his family is all fans, like even him he’s like a big fan. So when we came out I saw his mom and his sister and waiting in that area. So we took a picture with them. The mom’s like a big fan too…I loved watching him fight too. You know he’s one of those guys, freaking wild man.” Said Holloway.

What’s next for Max Holloway?

After his emphatic win against Rodriguez, Max Holloway needs to book his next fight quickly. With the reigning, defending champion, Alexander Volkanovski, fresh off a victory against Brian Ortega at UFC 266, the division has started to get a lot more interesting. Therfore, a trilogy bout between the two sounds like a magnificent idea for a UFC card in mid-2022.

Holloway has already mentally charted his path to the featherweight championship. He has also shown interest in fighting former lightweight and featherweight champion Conor McGregor. It was McGregor who began talking about the potential rematch, but Holloway has seemingly taken the talks forward.
