Daniel Radcliffe reveals gruesome Harry Potter prop he kept from the second film: ‘What a weird thing for someone to find in the attic!’
Daniel Radcliffe has revealed the strange prop he took home from the set of the Harry Potter films.
The actor already own a couple of pairs of the wizard’s iconic round glasses, but something else he decided to keep is decidedly more grim.
Chatting to BBC Radio 1, the actor shared that he also has a prosthetic arm from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, the second film in the franchise.
‘I’ve got a bunch of stuff from Potter. I’ve got a couple of sets of the glasses. I’ve got actually somewhere, I don’t know where, I don’t have it, it’s at my parents’ house I guess, maybe in the attic. What a weird thing for someone to find in the attic one day!’
Daniel went on: ‘I’ve got a prosthetic arm that was moulded for me in the scene where Harry lost all the bones in his arm. So I’ve got like a big floppy arm in my attic.’
Harry’s arm was broken during a Quidditch match in the film, released in 2002.
However, when Defence Against the Dark Arts professor Gilderoy Lockhart (Kenneth Branagh) attempted to fix it, his spell went wrong, making Harry’s arm totally floppy instead.
The Guns Akimbo actor played the titular character for eight films from 2001 until 2011.
He recently confessed that he was ‘intensely embarrassed’ by his acting in the series, based on the books by JK Rowling.
In a interview with Empire, he said: ‘It’s hard to separate my relationship with Harry from my relationship with the films as a whole.
‘I’m incredibly grateful for the experience. It showed me what I want to do with the rest of my life. To find out early on what you love is really lucky.
‘I’m intensely embarrassed by some of my acting, obviously [laughs], but yeah, it’s like asking, “how do you feel about your teenage years?”
‘There’s so much in there that it’s almost impossible to single out one feeling.’
