The first line-up for All Points East festival 2022 has dropped and, dare we say, it’s a doozy with the likes of Gorillaz, The Chemical Brothers and Idles headling the event.
They’ll be joined by Tame Impala, The National, Disclosure and Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds in leading the six days of music mayhem, as punters return to Victoria Park in east London from Friday August 19, to Sunday August 28 next year.
Other acts announced in today’s line-up by Mary Anne Hobbs on her BBC Radio 6 Music show include Self Esteem, Pusha T, James Blake, Yves Tumor And Its Band, Fleet Foxes, Rae Morris, Michael Kiwanuka and King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard.
The festival returned in a big way in August this year after the 2019 instalment was put on hold due to the Covid pandemic and the government enforcing restrictions prohibiting live events and large crowds.
Friday will see Gorillaz lead the stage, with Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett’s spectacular crew of virtual misfits, fresh from the success of acclaimed 2020 album Song Machine: Season One – Strange Timez and recent EP Meanwhile.
The night after APE Presents: Field Day throws at us a jaw-dropping double headliner featuring two of electronic music’s biggest ever names, The Chemical Brothers and Kraftwerk, while Thursday August 25 will feature Kevin Parker’s transcendent outfit Tame Impala bring its crowd-pleasing act to the main stage.
