WATCH: Kimi Raikkonen’s Typical Response to Reports Surrounding Alfa Romeo F1 Spare Parts Shortage

The aggressive kerbs on the Losail circuit have been in news all weekend after damaging the underbody of many cars on the high-speed track. Reports came in after the practice sessions on Friday, suggesting that the Alfa Romeo F1 team is running out of spare parts in the warehouse. When asked about the same, Kimi Raikkonen dismissed the claim straight away saying “I didn’t hear anything.”

Raikkonen finished 14th in the Qatar GP followed by his teammate Antonio Giovinazzi in 15th. However, the practice sessions on Friday were disastrous for the team as they ended up with three broken underbodies at the end of two practice sessions.

Kimi Raikkonen laughed off the question on broken flooring

After the Qatar GP, the reporter asked Kimi, “We heard you had issues with the floor. Did it limit your racing?” The former world champion was quick to respond with a sarcastic comment, “I didn’t hear anything. You know more than me. I think the car was pretty much as it was yesterday,

However, Auto Motor und Racing reported that there was a tense situation following the damage after the practice session. Two sub-floors already broke in Interlagos. They were immediately flown back to Switzerland and are to be transported to Jeddah after being repaired at the factory. The team manager clearly wrote off any possibility of new floors. “You don’t build any new parts so late in the season. It takes 20 days to produce a floor,” said Beat Zehnder as reported by Auto Motor und Racing.

A better Sunday than the rest of the weekend

As per reports, the two drivers had to drive with the patched floor. Still, they put up a good show. “I was surprised by the overtakes we could do, in the end, it was an entertaining race,” said Raikkonen after the race.

Our pace through practice, qualifying, and the race was affected by some damage we picked up during the sessions, so to pull together a good recovery drive like tonight’s, leaving behind the Haas and the Williams, was a positive,” added the Team Principle Frédéric Vasseur.

The team is betting their chances on the consignment back from Hinwil. It will be a race against time, given the limited number of Cargo Flights to Jeddah.
