Dwayne Wade: “LeBron James is going to play so long people are going to forget we even played together.”

Dwyane Wade and LeBron James started their career in the NBA together. While it has been 3 years since Dwyane Wade’s retirement, LeBron James is still going strong. The 36-year-old has been putting up stellar performances and looks in no mood to slow down.

Apart from his skill and mentality, the one thing people admire most about LeBron is his longevity. Scotty Pippen famously talked and praised LeBron’s longevity, and this time, it was Wade’s turn.

Dwyane Wade Talks About LeBron James’ Longevity

Wade talked with Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium about his memoir titled Dwyane. During the interview, Wade talked about his former teammate and close friend LeBron James.

“Keep going, bro. You’re going to play so long that people are going to forget we even played together.” – Dwyane Wade on former co-star LeBron James in 19th season. We haven’t seen this. I think we’re all on the train of keep going, bro…do something that no one has done before. I told him this when I retired: ‘You’re going to play so long that people are going to forget we even played together. That’s how long you’re gonna play.’” -According to Dwyane Wade.

People compared the duo of LeBron and Wade to legends like Pippen and Jordan during their playing days for Miami Heat. Wade and LeBron James were part of the iconic draft of 2003, and the duo led Miami to back-to-back championships. It is LeBron’s 19th year in the league, and Wade does not expect him to hang up his shoes soon.

Is age catching up to LeBron?

Ever since the inception of sports, the one thing which has been haunting players is age. James is in his 19th year, players like Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson had retired before they reached year 19. Kobe Bryant was just a shadow of his former self as he was dealing with significant injuries during this period of his career.

The only equivalent of LeBron’s longevity can be Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who was an All-Star in his 19th season. So is age catching up to LeBron? He has missed some games because of injury, but he is still one of the best players in the league when he stays fit. His elite fitness levels and mentality help him do what others couldn’t do at his age.

This longevity of his is a major reason people favor him over Michael Jordan. LeBron’s consistency is underrated and people will only realize that after James retires from the game.
