Good Morning Britain star Alex Beresford has been ‘bedridden’ after contracting Covid-19.

‘Get well soon Alex, this is a nasty virus and people need to just follow basic safety measures to keep us all safe,’ a follower responded.

‘I honestly don’t know why some make such a fuss over wearing a mask and having a jab etc. Hope u feel better soon xx [sic].’

‘Trusting you feel better soon Alex, a warning to us all this is far from over and we must all be super careful,’ another agreed.

‘Exactly the same experience. So grateful for the scientists  and everyone else involved in production, distribution and administration of the vaccine,’ a Twitter user said.

As one added: ‘Hope you feel much better sooner Alex sending hugs  speedy recovery x.’

Alex’s post comes after government guidelines were ramped up in the UK, following multiple cases the Omicron ‘super-variant’ being detected in England and Scotland.

In response to the mutation, which is thought to be more infectious and less responsive to vaccines, Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced new rules on masks and travel, which come into force from tomorrow.

Face coverings will now be compulsory on public transport, in shops, hair salons, banks and post offices – with people caught breaking the rules to face a £200 fine.

Anyone who has contact with an Omicron case will have to self-isolate for 10 days – even if they are double jabbed.
