Leigh-Anne Pinnock has no plans to quit Little Mix as the singer hopes to keep the girl group going alongside her new acting career.

The Sweet Melody singer has bagged her first acting role in rom-com Boxing Day, which is directed by Aml Ameen and is the first Black British Christmas movie.

Rumours have mounted that Little Mix are on the verge of splitting up with all three members, including Perrie Edwards and Jade Thirlwall, taking up solo opportunities.

However, Leigh-Anne remains committed to her music career and told Good Morning Britain presenters Susanna Reid and Ben Shephard on Tuesday: ‘Definitely not, singing is my number one passion but I do definitely feel like I’ve got the acting bug now. I loved it, I loved every second.

‘I uncovered a talent I didn’t really know I had so I’m just excited to keep nurturing and see where else this takes me.’

The 30-year-old recently welcomed twins and admitted she ‘doesn’t know how [she’s] even functioning’ juggling being a new mum with work commitments.

Boxing Day stars Leigh-Anne and Aml alongside each other as exes Georgia and Melvin, who unwittingly reconnect when he returns to the UK from his new home in LA for the festive period. However, he’s accompanied by his new fiance Lisa (Aja Naomi King) and, it’s safe to say, things get a little awkward between the trio.

Working among a predominantly Black cast was a breath of fresh air for Leigh-Anne after opening up about her experiences with racism in the music industry for a BBC documentary earlier this year.

She said: ‘It was literally like walking into a whole new world. I just remember when the opportunity came it’s just incredible and an all-Black cast as well, the first of its kind, it’s just a pleasure.’

‘This film allows a lot of the Black community to be seen so you did that for me so thank you,’ she added, turning to Aml.

The Kidulthood actor wrote the screenplay for the rom-com based on his own family life, with his parents divorcing when he was 15 – his character, Melvin, doesn’t want to visit home after his parents split up on Boxing Day.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.

Boxing Day is released in cinemas on Friday.
