2021 Hero World Challenge: Breakdown of the Prize Money From Winner to Last-Place

The 2021 Hero World Challenge has had a captivating start. Moreover, Bryson DeChambeau currently leads the event with a score of -11 after round two. He carded an incredible 64 on day two and currently leads the event by a stroke. Furthermore, round one leader Rory McIlroy slipped down after having an ordinary round two.

Tiger Woods is the host of this event. Hence, he made his first-ever public appearance in this event as a host since the solo car crash in February. He even gave a press conference and opened up about his experiences and plans as a player.

Moreover, the field in this event is quite limited as only 20 players are currently competing. The field consists of Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas, Brooks Koepka, Collin Morikawa, Bryson DeChambeau, and others. But what is the prize purse for this competitive event? Let’s find out.

2021 Hero World Challenge prize money

The 2021 Hero World Challenge has a set prize money of $3.4 million, with the winner’s share coming at $1,000,000. Meanwhile, this event doesn’t have a standard 18 percent payout, according to the PGA Tour’s prize money distribution chart. Moreover, this is a no-cut event making; means all the players will make it to the weekend.

Hero World Challenge is an invitational event on the PGA Tour. But, the only requirement is to be in the top-50 of the Official World Golf Ranking. Furthermore, apart from monetary benefits, there are a few other perks available, especially for the tournament winner. The winner gets 48 OWGR points, and the points are available according to the field strength.

However, the winner or any other player doesn’t get any FedExCup points or other benefits that a full-field PGA Tour event gets. Hence, only OWGR points and money are what the players are fighting for.
