Piers Morgan was briefly grilled by Kate Garraway in her Life Stories interview as she practiced taking over his seat.
The final episode of ITV’s Piers Morgan’s Life Stories will air tonight with the former Good Morning Britain presenter set to interview Kate about her career, marriage to Derek Draper and his Covid recovery.
However, a preview from the episode shows Kate taking on Piers’ role as interviewer before she officially replaces him as presenter of the series for three upcoming instalments.
In the teaser clip, Piers says: ‘I’ll tell you what, let’s swap seats… so weird, I’ve never been on this side before.’
Kate then wiggles around in the seat to get comfortable and jokes: ‘Hang on, I’ve just got to get my bottom into the Piers hole,’ to which he jokingly exclaims: ‘Pardon?’
With a very hoarse voice due to all the talking, Kate states: ‘First of all: sex, drugs and rock and roll.’

‘Oh yes,’ Piers replies matter-of-factly. When a shocked Kate asks: ‘All of them?’ her interviewee jokes with a shrug: ‘Yep.’
On a more serious note, the new Life Stories presenter wonders: ‘How many times have you been in love for real?’
When Piers revealed ‘once’, Kate stated: ‘I’m hoping it’s your wife.’
Piers then quips: ‘No, it’s me.’
Viewers will spot a familiar face in the audience as Piers’ former GMB co-host Susanna Reid was spotted laughing among the crowd.

Kate, 54, had earlier discussed her husband Derek’s devastating battle recovering from Covid. He was admitted to hospital in March 2020 after contracting Covid. The former Labour lobbyist was then placed in a medically induced coma to give his body time to recover from the virus, but did not wake up until several months later with his body ravaged from the disease.
However, Derek continued to defy the odds and was released from hospital in April allowing him to continue recovery at home with Kate and their two children Billy and Darcey.

Sharing an update on her husband’s condition, Kate told Piers: ‘It’s moments like that which make you realise he is there, and we have had others. He will turn to me and say “I love you”. He is there, he has fought so hard to stay in this world and I’m not giving up on him, ever.
‘He will have moments of clarity, then it’s like he disappears but then he finds a voice.’
Piers Morgan’s Life Stories with Kate Garraway airs on ITV tonight at 8pm.
