“He Blocked Me”- Aljamain Sterling Slams Petr Yan in a Recent Interview

Aljamain Sterling is one of the top fighters in the UFC right now. The fact that he is currently the UFC Bantamweight champion only adds to his case. Sterling has beaten many renowned fighters in the promotion. Some of these names include Cory Sandhagen, Pedro Munhoz, and Petr Yan.

However, many believe that his victory over Petr Yan was undeserved. Petr Yan and Aljamain Sterling fought earlier this year at UFC 259 in Las Vegas. In the octagon, many believe that Yan completely outclassed the “Funk Master.”

Towards the end of the fourth round of the fight, Yan landed what was deemed to be an illegal knee to Sterling’s head while he was down. After this, Sterling claimed he was unable to fight and walked away with the title. Many feel he acted as if he couldn’t continue on purpose in order to win the UFC gold.

After Sterling’s massive win at UFC 259, the two were set for a rematch at UFC 267, which took place on the 30th of October. However, Sterling had to withdraw as he was reportedly facing complications due to the neck surgery he had after his injury in their last bout.

Ever since their bout at UFC 259, Aljamain Sterling and Petr Yan have been going off at each other on social media and in interviews. The fact that Sterling pulled out of the rematch made matters even heated for them. Yan has been referring to Sterling as a coward ever since, and both fighters have been slamming each other.

Recently in an interview on ESPN MMA, Aljamain Sterling claimed that Petr Yan blocked him on social media.

“He blocked me,” said Sterling when UFC anchor Karyn Bryant asked him about the social media exchanges between Yan and himself.

When Sterling was asked about the beef he holds with Yan, he said, “We are both two high competitors, and we really want to shut the other person up. That’s what it comes down to. I come from a wrestling background. You hear a little chirping, you want to shut the other guy up and prove it on the mat.”

“I just had an off night. I think that’s what it comes down to…We have a lot of unsettled business. I can’t wait to shut that guy up for good,” he added.
