What a night! Little Simz and Ghetts were among the many winners at this year’s Mobo awards after claiming their first trophies for best male and female act at the glamourous 24th annual ceremony on Sunday.

Hosted by Little Mix’s Leigh-Anne Pinnock alongside comedian Munya Chawawa, the awards, which stand for Music of Black Origin and recognise and celebrate black music and culture, were streamed on YouTube.

After collecting a staggering 11 Mobo nominations since 2014, Little Simz scooped her first win at long last, following the release of her album, Sometimes I Might Be An Introvert.

Rapper Ghetts also collected his first Mobo trophy and performed at the ceremony, after his hit album Conflict Of Interest reached number two in the UK albums chart back in March this year.

Other winners included singer Dave, 23, the most nominated artist of the night with five altogether, winning the coveted prize for album of the year for his second number one album, We’re All Alone In This Together. This follows his best newcomer win at the ceremony in 2017.

London rapper Central Cee also took home two big wins including best newcomer and the new category of best drill act.

Nigerian star Wizkid collected a double whammy of trophies for best international act and best African music act, while World heavyweight champion boxer Frank Bruno was honoured with the Mobo Inspiration Award.
