Carlos Adames Wins Majority Decision Over Sergiy Derevyanchenko in a 10-Round Battle

Carlos Adames scored a sensational win via majority decision after going all 10nrlunds against firmer title challenger Sergiy Derevyanchenko. Despite suffering adversaries in the fight, Adames looked brilliant throughout the night and did his best to win the WBC title eliminator. He can now target Jermall Charlo as his next, and can soon be a world champion.

While that will be a whole new tale, Adames’ recent display of action left many surprised. Coming into the fight, Sergiy Derevyanchenko appeared the favorite under some valid parameters. But Adames changed it pretty well in reality and bagged one of the most important wins in his career. He stands at a record of 21-1 now, and here’s how he attained it.

A Solid start of action!

Sergiy Derevyanchenko took a lot of time to understand Carlos Adames in the first round. The Ukrainian didn’t seem in a rush and laned almost zero power shots. While Adamses kept moving all across the ring, Derevyanchenko just walked down his rival without putting any pressure. The maiden round of the 10-rounds battle.

Round 2, however, saw a different scene. Sergiy Derevyanchenko offered aggression but came short against Adames’ lopsided dominance. The Dominican pugilist planted clean shoots and shook his Ukrainian rival. Sergiy Derevyanchenko wobbled a bit before regaining himself in the scrap. That said, the damage was already evident as he seemed drained of energy at a pretty early stage. Meanwhile, Adames ended round two with a cheeky left hook to advance himself on the scorecard.

Meanwhile, Sergiy Derevyanchenko rebounded in round three. Although he consumed some heavy shots, ‘The Technician’ offered the same and baffled Carlos Adames. Ending the round with a left hook in his favor, Derevyanchenko comfortably entered round four. He didn’t let go of the control then and took his time to connect with more power shots. By then, Adames looked like he had touched the end of his gas tank. But he kept fighting. Halfway through the fight, both men had enough moments of success and they seemed eager to continue.
