WATCH: Scottie Pippen Jr Scores a Buzzer-Beater Three to Rescue Vanderbilt Commodores
Chicago Bulls legend, Scottie Pippen spent most of his years doing what he loves most, that is playing basketball. And while doing so, he not only achieved accolades that very few NBA players have but also created some brilliant memories. However, it seems like it’s time that his son, Scottie Pippen Jr., does the same, who was just the star player during the Temple vs Vanderbilt matchup.
Vanderbilt’s Scottie Pippen Jr. shines against Temple Owls
This is the first time these two teams met after the Temple Owls defeated the Vanderbilt Commodores 67-59 in Seattle during the 1993 NCAA Tournament Sweet 16. However, the two teams go way back. The Commodores’ coach is Jerry Stackhouse, while the Owls’ coach is Aaron McKie. These two were part of a 1992 trade that landed McKie with the Philadelphia 76ers, and Stackhouse with the Detroit Pistons.
So, when their matchup hit the headlines, a new generation of players battling each other was quite exciting. However, what fans couldn’t get over is, another NBA legend’s son, Scottie Pippen Jr., played tremendously for the Vanderbilts. From finishing the night with 16 points under his name, the highest on his team tied with Jordan Wright, he also dropped a buzzer-beater that took the gave to overtime.
The Commodores were down by 3 points with 2.7 seconds left for the buzzer to go off. Pippen Jr. was patiently waiting for an inbound pass at the corner of the arc, and as soon as he got it, he didn’t waste a single second and threw in a jumper, that landed perfectly in the bucket. Unfortunately, his late-game heroics weren’t enough to seal the victory as they eventually lost 72-68.

His dad could use some good publicity at the moment
Ever since Pippen’s memoir ‘Unguarded’ came out, it has everyone riled up. Not only has he somewhat spoiled the good name of the Chicago Bulls‘ legacy that he himself helped create, but also bashed the greatest of all time, his teammate, Michael Jordan.
Whether his intention was to just gain empathetic publicity, or it was just to speak the truth, it hasn’t gone his way at all. In fact, fans have bashed the 56-year-old for his “convenient” timing, and hardly believe what he has deemed true.

Well, it looks like at least Pippen Jr. is focused on what’s most important. Whether he will become a player as great as his dad, is a debate for another day. But one can hope that he does.
