John Mayer gets roasted by Taylor Swift fans after joining TikTok: ‘We will never forget what you did’
John Mayer didn’t get the reception he was expecting after he joined TikTok on Monday.
The singer discovered that there is still quite a bit of bad blood between himself and Taylor Swift fans as they flocked to the comments to call him out over his alleged behavior during his brief romance with the country singer.
The 43-year-old crooner simply posted a video with a dad-joke when the Swifties began denouncing him for dating and dumping Swift in 2009, when he was 32 and she was 13 years younger.
A furious follower stated: ‘We will never forget what you did to our girl Taylor.’
‘You’re not safe here John,’ one fan stated, while another wrote: ‘bestie this is not a safe space for you.’
One quoted Taylor’s 2010 break-up track Dear John – which she admitted was about their failed relationship – as they wrote: ‘John don’t you think 19 was too young?’
The Your Body Is A Wonderland hitmaker then posted a second video of himself on TikTok nodding in agreement, seemingly acknowledging the Swifties’ comments.
Mayer played into a trend on the app as he wrote: ‘POV: You’re berating me and I’m hearing you out.’
The singer playfully captioned it: ‘I’m here (for you).’
However, the Swifties had some feelings to get off their chest as one commented: ‘hello mr old man victim complex.’
Another person added, ‘The girl in the dress cried the whole way home John. Think about that’.
However, his third post of the day saw his fans come out in his defense as one commented: ‘Let’s just focus on how John Mayer is a creative visionary, comedian and phenomenal artist. Welcome to TikTok.’
‘Gen z pls show John Mayer some respect,’ wrote another. ‘he’s a legend!!!! Signed a sane swiftie.’
What a start to the week.
